The course primarily deals with a number of academically and clinically important cerebral disorders. It discusses the disorders in detail including the aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnosis and management for each of them.

This course will help the learner make faster diagnosis and give correct advice to the patients and have a thorough knowledge of every disease.

• 1. Headache Syndromes Part 1 - Tension Type Headache & Migraine   FREE 48 min

  This module includes an introduction to headache along with discussions on pain sensitive cranial structures and the mechanisms of cranial pain. Then the 2 most common primary headache syndromes – Tension type headache and Migraine are discussed in detail.

• 2. Headache Syndromes Part 2 54 min

  This module will continue the discussion of headache syndromes. in this module, the remaining primary headache syndromes including trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias, primary stabbing / coughing / exertional / sex-related headache, thunderclap headache, new daily persistent headache syndrome and some other primary headache syndromes will be discussed. Following that are the secondary causes of headache. In the end, there is a brief discussion on trigeminal neuralgia.

• 3. Epilepsy – Part 1 41 min

  In this module, the most common neurological disease in the world, that is Epilepsy will be discussed in detail. The epidemiology, aetiology, pathophysiology, and clinical features of various types of epilepsy are discussed.

• 4. Epilepsy – Part 2 42 min

  This module will continue with the discussion on Epilepsy including the differential diagnosis, epilepsy syndromes, investigations, management, and prognosis of epilepsy. In the end, this module will discuss status epilepticus and Non-epileptic attack disorder as well.

• 5. Vestibular Disorders 27 min

  This module talks about some important vestibular disorders. It starts with discussion on vertigo and its causes and the normal vestibular pathway. Then the 3 most common vestibular disorders – Acute vestibular failure, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and Ménière’s Disease have been discussed in detail.

• 6. Disorders of Sleep 42 min

  This module begins with an introduction to sleep along with the physiology of sleep, stages of sleep and classification of sleep. Then it talks about some common disorders of sleep in detail including – insomnia, sleep related breathing disorders, hypersomnolence, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, parasomnias, and sleep related movement disorders. It entails detailed discussion on the definitions, aetiopathogenesis, clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of all these diseases.

• 7. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome 31 min

  This module talks about another important disorder that presents with a disturbance in sleep – Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Epidemiology, aetiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, management and prognosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are included.

• 8. Cerebrovascular Disorders – Stroke 49 min

  This module begins the discussion on Cerebrovascular disorders with an introduction that includes the vascular supply of brain, clinical presentation and investigations for cerebrovascular disorders. Then the topic of Stroke is explained thoroughly with emphasis upon the epidemiology, aetiology, clinical classification, risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical features, investigations, and management.

• 9. Cerebrovascular Disorders - Intracranial Haemorrhage 34 min

  This module talks about the intracranial haemorrhages including – Epidural haematoma, subdural haematoma and subarachnoid haemorrhage. It entails detailed discussion on the definitions, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of all these diseases.

• 10. Cerebrovascular Disorders - Cerebral Venous Thrombosis & Vascular Anomalies 45 min

  The last module in this part deals with cerebral venous thrombosis and the various vascular anomalies. The Congenital Vascular Malformations includes Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations, Developmental Venous Anomaly and Capillary Telangiectasias. And then the Acquired Vascular Lesions will include Cavernous Angiomas and Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas The epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis and investigations, management & prognosis, are discussed in detail for each of them.

The course will begin with the very common and important Headache syndromes discussed over a few modules. Detailed modules on epilepsy, vestibular disorders, sleep disorders and chronic fatigue syndrome follows after that. Cerebrovascular disorders will then be discussed separately owing to the vastness of these topics. These modules will discuss stroke, intracranial haemorrhages, cerebral venous thrombosis and the vascular anomalies as well.
