A Gold Medalist and M.D. in Homoeopathic Medicine, Dr. Barvalia has been practising since 1983 and is a visiting professor both in India and abroad. He is celebrated for pioneering a holistic, integrated, research-based approach to developmental disability and mental health, known as Spandan's Symphony. This approach is grounded in the holistic philosophy of Homoeopathy and the developmental theories of Jean Piaget.
Dr. Barvalia has led Spandan in completing 21 noteworthy projects, including one of the largest school health initiatives in urban slums, screening over 11,800 children and providing transformative care to those with learning, developmental, and mental health disorders. His research has spanned Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, ADHD, Thyroid Disorders, Mood Disorders, and HIV/AIDS, with findings published and presented internationally.
He has served as principal investigator for AYUSH-sponsored research and collaborated with leading institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Dr. Barvalia's contributions have been recognised with numerous awards, including the Times Healthcare Achievers Award, the "Service above Self" award from Rotary International, and a nomination for the Amazing Indian Award by Times Network.
Dr. Barvalia is also a respected leader in policy and education, serving as Chairman of the Institutional Scientific Advisory Board at the Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy, and as a Pat member and guide at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He is a trustee at Dr. M L Dhawle Memorial Trust. He was also a Director at I.C.R.
